Pours black with a short-lived, khaki head of fine foam. Dark red highlights within the Mt. Hood Northern Drink ware pint glass reveal the beer to be clear. Lacing appears late and leaves large patches.
The aroma is similar to sweet, soapy malt. Faint cocoa powder and coffee are detectable and campfire smoke is faint as it warms.
The flavor has a light sweetness, with sourness and medium bitterness. Roasted malt has a light char and oats are discernible. The finish is long and unpleasant.
A full body and smooth texture of whipped cream allows soft carbonation to punctuate each sip. The alcohol is as expected.
I had expected more, given this can is only six weeks old. The off flavors and aromas are decidedly odd. While it is an ok beer, it is also far from what I had hoped it would be.

On nitro tap at Fattey Beer Company in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a fluffy head, and lots of lacing.
This smells lightly smokey, and very chocolatey, with some roast.
I imagine this would have been better on a regular draft line. It feels a little bit thin, watery, and ashy on the finish, which kind of takes away from the pleasantly roasty and chocolatey typical stout flavors here.
This is thin, a little bit astringent, and not creamy enough, but still fairly drinkable.
I wanted more out of this as I usually enjoy Four Quarters beer more.

a: silky black color with just the faintest hint of brown. poured a 2 finger tan head that faded real quick into just a thin film on top
s: tons of roasted malts and chocolate upfront. leather and molasses. oats and a touch of cola sweetness behind that with a big dark caramel backbone. awesome smell
t: roasted malts and charred wood upfront. dark chocolate followed by cocoa powder along with cola, malt sweetness, and a touch of smoked meat. some oaty richness definitely makes itself known as well as some more roasted malts at the end
m: medium, almost full mouthfeel that you definitely notice the oats in. strong-moderate carbonation
o: honestly, this is an excellent beer. great flavors, great harmonization, and very smooth. i just with it had a little better head retention

16 oz can acclimated to room temperature for 20 minutes and poured into a stout glass.
Pours velvety black with orange highlights and a thick & foamy 1.5 finger British khaki head, leaving moderate lacing.
Initial aroma yields licorice, char, alcohol, molasses, and maybe dates?
Initial taste before swallowing is bitter but smooth chocolate, a little red fruit like goji berries, and a sort of charred mineral molasses.
After swallowing I first get that red fruit and char, followed by a bitterness that tastes almost like biting into apple seeds, moreso like acidic cocoa powder. Afterwards I taste hops, sort of like hay. Hops and bitterness sit together in the finish, hitting the top middle of the tongue and roof of the mouth. Honestly, as I drink more, it becomes more and more acrid/acidic/metallic, in a not good way.

On nitro tap at the Vermont Tap House in Rutland Vermont.
Appearance. Nearly opaque reddish-brown body with a head that's good but not as good as expected from a nitro tap.
Aroma and flavor are a bit off, probably a contaminated line. I'll try to revisit this.

No can date
Pours a tan frothy foamy 1 finger head with moderate retention, sticky lacing, very dark almost black colored beer
Nose starts with nice dark malts, a little roasty, some dark chocolate, cocoa, mild creamy oatmeal like, hint of coffee and fruity ester notes,
Taste brings rich dark malt up front, charred with a little acrid roast, dark roasty coffee and some very dark bitter chocolate cocoa notes, creamy oatmeal, light fruity ester notes, touch biscuity and some caramel, the acrid roast brings a touch of a metallic note, semi dry finish with a bit of bitterness and lingering metallic acrid roast
Mouth is med to a bit fuller bod, creamy lush like oats, med-higher foamy carb
Overall started quite nice, then the acrid metallic roast kicked in, too much black patent or some super dark roast that brought too much acrid metallic notes, but the yeast esters were nice, and oats were good, so other than that it's a good beer
