Can poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a pure thick dark brown close to black color capped by a thin eggshell wafer foamy head. Small ring of lace near the top slid off to leave some semi-stringy lace.
The aroma had started off with a shape shifting ashy/char/roasty coffee bean/ground character up front then with some warmth milk chocolate starts to come out with some sweet to toasted coconut tones. Subtle pecan/toasty woody nature further underneath.
The flavor wraps up all of the prior mentioned aromas together semi-sweetly with a sly toasty effect edging out some roasty coffee qualities. Mild aftertaste composing of roasty coffee and pecans, subtle sweetness of the coco and a shy amount of milk chocolate.
The mouthfeel has a nice ebb and flow of a delectable grip, it's medium bodied with a fine sipping quality about it. Good carbonation with some grip, a touch of stickiness, but not cloying. Finishes with some sticky milk chocolate and toasted coconut.
Overall, honestly, I was expecting a bit more of the coconut to shine to let me think of a true 'German chocolate cake' but I gotta give some great props to Bryan and gang to pull off something like this that gave me a fabulous Sunday evening dessert.
