Poured from an undated 16 oz can into the test glass.
A - Orangy/copper colored backdrop with nice clarity. Gentle train of carbonation procedes topside, to form a thin ring and islands.
S - Start off is nutmeg, cinnamon, then citrussy orange steps in. As the offering warms, a lovely malt, cereal thread is balancing against orange pith.
T - Follows the aromatics, with the spices up front, and more of the malt coming through
M - Medium in body, semi sweet, then a spicy peppery wave, Finish is nicely dry. Linger is sweet maltiness
O - A very good winter warmer, the orange, and spices balance quite well against the base beer

Poured from a pint can into a snifter style glass. Two finger off white head provides some nice lacing as the beer goes down. The body is the color of maple syrup, with a similar opaqueness. On the nose there is definitely cinnamon and nutmeg; I didn't pick up the sweet orange peel that is listed on the label. The first sip has those flavors, along with some malty richness, and a sumptuous mouthfeel. all of which help mask the 9% abv so well that you are tempted to have another! Excellent Holiday cheer even in August, from Four Quarters!

This is a winter warmer according to the brewer. http://www.fourquartersbrewing.com/buffalo-plaid/
It is spiced- the spice is a bit over accentuated at colder temps, and mellows along with the bitterness at warmer serving temps. A little more balance between the flavors and the finish would make this a excellent beer.

Pours a reddish amber with almost zero head. Smells of cloves, nutmeg, holiday cheer. Taste is big on the cloves and nutmeg.. with a pretty heavy gingerbread sweetness too. Mouthfeel is medium - but thats an accomplishment considering the big abv. One of the best spiced holiday beers i've had

Med-light amber. Very clear. Thin cap of whipped beige head. Aroma is fairly muted right of the can--strong honey malt, persimmon custard, frozen snickerdoodle cookie dough. Samples very smooth with fine carbonation, subtle booziness. Soft ginger snap cookie with a honey-cinnamon glaze and orange peel. Reminds me of GLBC Christmas Ale as both are honey-citrus forward with a strong, but even-handed dose of seasonal spices.

A pleasant surprise for a holiday beer (usually not a big fan). Smooth with various spices and subtle citrus. Pour a dark golden hue with slight head, though it quickly retreats. Subtle boozy taste but doesn't disappoint. Good stuff!
