BOTTLE: Purchased at the brewpub. Bottled 2016/12/19. 12 fl oz format. Unbranded black pry-off crown cap. Fun label art.
"Passion fruit pale ale." Brewed with oats and honey malt.
Huge on the passion fruit, evoking the tropical fruit quite well. Very expressive, with a citrusy rindy bitterness and nice grapefruit-like bite. Pale malts keep this well constructed pale ale balanced, and the hop profile/fruit is really interesting, helping set it apart from the herd. Balanced and enjoyable, with a pleasant even-keeled build and a well-disguised ABV.
Smooth, wet, slightly juicy, refreshing, medium-bodied, overcarbonated. A bit thin.
A drinkable pleasant pale ale with no faults but room for improvement in terms of depth of flavour and intricacy. Well worth a try and an interesting brew I'd recommend to friends.

Draft at the brewery.
Cloudy golden orange with a thin compact head and minimal spotty lace around the edges.
This is a passionfruit APA, and there was no aroma or taste of passionfruit at all.
Bland, watery pale ale with mild hop bitterness in the aftertaste.
Nothing distinctive about this at all, very underwhelming.

Pours a hazy, gold color. 1/5 inch head of a white color. Slight retention and decent lacing. Smells of pale malt, hint of sweet malt, spicy hops, piney hops, and floral notes. Fits the style of an American ale Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of yeast, earthiness, grass, spicy hops, slight piney hops, pale malt, and citrus. Overall, weak appearance, average aroma, body, and blend (mostly grassy and earthy).
