Served in a tumbler at Mundelein Brewfest 2014.
Let's head on to another new-to-me brewer, Lansing's own Transient. This stuff pours a hazy brassy-gold topped by a finger or so of white foam. The nose comprises grapefruit zest (both yellow and ruby red), light honeydew, mild artisan bread (no Wonder shit here, folks), and a faint hint of Brett-y funk in the background. The taste brings in more of the same, some orange zest tossed in for good measure. There's a pervasive sense of vague saison-ness abounding, but nothing overt. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a drying finish. Overall, a solid saison, one that shows the pleasant interplay between the Brett and New Zealand hops. Not bad at all.
