Pours a hazy golden orange color with a sudsy white head that evaporates almost instantaneously, going out with a satisfying fizz per the style. There’s also some flotsam hanging around the bottom of the glass after the pour settles, which looks like little bits of grape skin. Gorgeous saison, IMHO.
The nose is funky per the style and there are significant white grape aromas as well, and a musty aroma that balances the funky notes. The Seyval Blanc grapes are the star of the taste, giving this saison a white wine-like quality that is kept away from being too sweet by the funky flavors and the musty malt notes.
The mouthfeel isn’t as fizzy as you normally see with this style, but that works in this case because of the depth of the flavor profile. Transient is known for brewing outstanding beers in the farmhouse/wild/saison space, and this is another example of their prowess.
