500ml bottle served in a snifter-ish glass. 2023 vintage. Got it from @ovaltine in NBS BIF #18.
Pouhrs thick, dark, black. On the pour, there's a soda-like flash of carbonation that settles into nothing much. Not much active carbonation after the initial pour. Smell is ultra rich hot chocolate, hard to say but I think there's some vanilla, marshmallow, and molasses in there. Hard to smell anything over the chocolate, like hearing over chumbawumba at a sports bar.
Taste is more nuanced than the nose suggests. Chocolate is the biggest note, but root beer and/or cola makes an impression, something reminds me of rye spice, and booze is quite noticeable. Vanilla, charred oak.
Mouthfeel is medium to thick, surprisingly effervescent. Overall, very nice beer.

A beer wrapped in a velvet glove (like Crown Royal)????? It’s gotta deliver.
This massive (16.5% ABV) imperial stout does, with loads of bourbon barrel notes accompanied by decadent vanilla and rich maple flavors, with roasty coffee flavors for a delicious balance. This is CBS’s big brother.
Yep, I typed that. World class stuff, IMHO.
