Our friend was a music teacher. He was a craftsman. A home brewer. A bad joke teller. A bicyclist. A family man. Our friend was many things, but most of all, our friend Ed Hahne was a good man. He was a testament to how even the smallest encounter with someone can have a very meaningful impact on your life. He is missed. This beer is brewed in memory of him, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Ed Hahne Memorial Award at Stony Brook University.

A: The beer is clear dark yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation, and the appearance got even darker as the bottom of the can was poured out. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that settled down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles on the surface, a collar around the edge of the glass, and some lacing down the sides.
S: Moderate aromas of butterscotch and honey are present in the nose along with hints of orange zest.
T: The taste has flavors of butterscotch and orange citrus zest with hints of honey in the finish. There is just a slight bit of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This IPA has some interesting aromas and flavors of butterscotch and honey. Any traces of alcohol were well hidden from this beer.

Not a good brew! Funky spoiled taste. Not anything that should be drank!

Served on tap at the brewery into a conical serving glass.
A: Pours a clear, dark amber color with a half inch, white head with modest retention, but little lacing.
S: Aromas of lemon, orange, tangerine, and caramel.
T: Palate follows the nose. Modest bitterness frames the fruit and malt nicely.
M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Juicy.
O: Enjoyable, flavorful, and highly drinkable Pale Ale.

7/19/18 can release has a dedication in memory of Ed Hahne printed on the can, and an 8.5% abv...
Pours a medium-light amber color with a finger-plus of white frothy head on top... Has a resinous citrus character profile, like they shellacked the peel and pith of an orange... Smooth but with a little caramel chew to it, medium-full feeling, moderately bitter, mildly sweet... Not exactly to my tastes these days, but a good beer nonetheless...

Appearance: Pours clear and copper colored with a one finger head; decent retention and little lacing
Smell: Caramel and butterscotch with citrus pith underneath
Taste: A powerful malt bill leads off, with caramel and butterscotch segueing into an earthy and pithy bitterness; while the bitterness lingers underneath, the malts are too big to recede and dominate the finish
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation; a little slick on the tongue
Overall: Rather balanced between the malts and the hops, but the malt is a bit too powerful and I would prefer a citrusier hop presence

Subtle at first but the citrusy after taste does not leave your mouth.

From a growler on 7/25/15. Having no experience with the brewery, I came in with zero expectations and was beyond surprised. It is well-balanced and has a super-citrusy flavor that lasts well through the finish.
