Late in the Evening "English Bitter" can was a pre-dinner drink at a restaurant in Riverhead on 10 Sept. 2021 (not late in the evening, contrary to the name's advice). The pour into a glass gave a modest head over an amber body. The beer was fairly well balanced, but I thought lacked a malt body that would be expected in a bitter. In its favor it has a very moderate alcohol content.

A: The beer is somewhat hazy yellowish amber in color and appears to be caramel brown when viewed from afar. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head that left a large patch of bubbles on the surface, a narrow collar around the edge and lots of small specks of bubbles down the sides.
S: Light to moderate aromas of pale malts and toffee/caramel are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This ale is very easy to drink and is very sessionable.

From draft into a pint glass at The Good Life in Massapequa - orange amber beer with a fat off-white head - a solid bitter - rich malts and mellow hops suggest sweet fruits and a piney shellac - herbal and earthy, perfect bitterness, moderately sweet; body is medium, carbonation moderate; finish leaves you wanting another...

On cask at The Ginger Man in New York City.
Pours a clear, lucid amber with soft, thick foam.
Smell is bready and floral with some spiciness and hints of caramel and leather.
Taste is soft and bready. Notes of caramel and floral hops with a tinge of spiciness and a soft, delicate bitterness. Superbly sessionable.
Mouthfeel is medium, lush and creamy, with the soft carbonation a cask ale should have.
Overall, a really good cask bitter, well made and true to style.
