On September 8th 2014 we brewed our 42nd batch of beer. It was a barleywine, but not the one that's in this bottle. That one went into a wine barrel, but that story is for another label. In this bottle may be the answer to life, the Universe and everything, but that may be too bold of a statement. What we can tell you is that it's a big beautiful barleywine that drinks in much the same way that water doesn't. Your may enjoy this now, but you may also want to cellar it to enjoy just before the planet is demolished to make way for a hyperspatial express route. Don't panic!

Decanted at cellaring from a 22 oz (651 ml) bottle into a snifter bowl; bottle 244/264..
A: Pours an only light hazy, dark copper color with remarkable liveliness on the pour, but short-lived, tan head formation without retention or lacing, but decent legs.
S: Aromas of raisin, date, cookie, orange zest, cherrywood, caramel and/or molasses.
T: Semisweet. Flavor is a solid version of the nose; modest bitterness. Very nicely balanced and drinkable.
M: Full bodied with surprisingly strong carbonation given its age. Very smooth.
O: This was really a delicious, crushable American Barleywine; I will have to obtain and try other versions.
