Pours dark black from a 440ml can. Nice initial head then dissipates rather quickly. Scent of chocolate, coffee, toffee, and molasses.
Smooth texture and good mouthfeel, hint of bitterness on first swig, but overall well balanced sweetness on the palate. As this is brewed in my home town of Christchurch, New Zealand, I set aside the bias and say, this is a very full bodied enjoyable stout and I would buy more often if it wasn't so expensive per can. well done Cassels and Sons. RIP Alasdair. Alasdair Cassels, described as a man with “big ideas and drive”, was aged 71 when he passed away in 2022. Cheers too the Cassels brewing and poring team, Leon.

Jet black petrol from the pour. But surprisingly light and creamy taste.
Smoky noir tones linger. But a creamy and light note emerges on the aftertaste.
Highly recommended.

L- Pitch black, not a photon gets through even held directly in front of a halogen bulb. Pours with a thin 2mm off-white head.
S- Clearly deeply toasty and with hints of smoke.
T- Oh wow... fast into a deep toasty smokey charry (log-fire cinders etc) aspects, with a solid toasty grain facet and a little hoppy dryness in the finish. *
F- The flavour is that full-on I think it gives an impression of being heavier than it's 5.2%. It's the kind of beer that would go well with dessert, or when you haven't got any further subtle beers to rate in that session.
O- Very drinkable if you enjoy full-on stout flavour. More a slow-sippin beer than anything to get stuck into a few of.
* FWIW Unrelated to my ratings above my wife straight away homed in of different things (without any prompting), coffee and dark/bitter chocolate, so overall you might assume there is quite a range of 'stuff going on' here.
Bought from BeersOfEurope/UK for home delivery. 328ml bottle BB: 08/05/2021 stamped on glass near base of bottle.
p.s. Lable carries logo of 'World Beer Awards/2019 - World's Best Milk Stout'.

Bottled in an odd shaped 328 ml bottle
Funnily enough I remember talking to a work colleague about fifteen years ago from New Zealand & he said the beer they had round his neighbourhood was milk stout
Pours a jet black body with decent tan head
Aroma is proper toffee
That is a proper milk stout
