Like most stouts, the VB Stout is a dark, rich beer with plenty of coffee and chocolate tones. In addition to most stouts, however, we add the distinct taste of organic vanilla and the essence of bourbon to make a complex beer with a symphony of flavor and a wide range of notes.

Draft at 1313 Club. Jet black pour with cap of creamy head. Sweetish aroma, vanilla. Taste brings the roast malts, chocolate. Super smooth and super tasty.

On tap at Lost Boys' Garage. Dark brown with a loose tan head. Head recedes fairly quickly leaving some patchy lacing. Aroma is dominated by the vanilla with some roast malt. Tastes sweet with a very heavy vanilla presence. Notes of espresso and dark roast are mostly background. Medium body and smooth. Very tasty but somewhat one dimensional.

I had this beer on-tap in a pint glass at the brewery.
Appearance: black hue with a thin layer of tan foam. Not enough head, but nice.
Smell: rich, chocolatey, malty aroma. Very good indeed.
Taste: chocolatey and vanilla-ey, but without a ton of other depth. Not bad, but not complex.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: a decent enough sweet stout, but it's a bit one-dimensional. I would not want a ton of this.

Really good stout!! Nice tan head with good lacing, at first taste you get brown sugar and vanilla bean with a slight hint of cinnamon which melds nicly into strong bourbon, coffee, and molasses. The vanilla carries over to the end as a nice even note. one of the best local beers for 2016 River City really got it right!
