Conshohocken Brewing Co. "Double Dry Hopped Island In The Sun"
16 fl. oz. can "CANNED 05/03/23" ans sampled on 05/31/23
$2 @ Weis, Conshohocken, PA
Notes via stream of consciousness: This is a variation of the standard "Island In The Sun" with more hops (Mosaic, Simcoe, Bravo) a lower ABV. Like the original it's conditioned on pineapples. It's poured a cloudy yellow body beneath a thumb's width of bright white foam. The aroma is fruity and resinous over a sweetish malt base with the pineapple prominent but the resin giving it a run for the money. The flavor delivers even more pineapple! WOW! There's some additional berry, orange, and vanilla to boot. It's sweet but still balanced, and incredibly easy to drink. At 8% ABV this is definitely a dangerous beer. You may want to drink more than one or two which could get you into trouble, but you could also just drink your first one way too quickly and then run into trouble when the alcohol catches up with you. There's a light bit of alcohol to it but that's mostly veiled by the sweet malt and fruit (at least until it warms). This is absolutely delicious! In the mouth it's medium bodied on the fuller side, or at least it feels like that because of all of the extra proteins and it's quite smooth. I'm thinking that it tastes like there are oats in the grain bill which is where those proteins are coming from. Up until just a moment ago I had a completely solid surface covering but now it's starting to thin in spots. The lacing is very good as well. If you're a fan of juicy New England style IPAs you've really got to give this one a try.
