Draught at the Northend Brewpub tonight.. Pours a standard black with a foamy dark brown head... looks conveniently enough like espresso... Little retention and no lacing.
Nose is surprisingly rich for a 6% brew.. Nice mix of milk chocolate, coffee, and dark toasty maltiness.
Palate has enough sweetness to tie all the big malt contributors together with the bitterness and flavor of the espresso.. The board said 41 IBUs, but I am just getting hints of grassy hops.
The body seems thicker than 6%... smooth with a good viscosity.. Very drinkable, this will be my go-to for a while at Cloud 9.
