a little less refined and tidy than i want something like this to be, but the flavor is there, a nice sturdy bitter and oily northwestern hop profile with a little more malt character than a lot of these have, dry kilned type red malts, this isnt sugary to me at all, and there is nice depth and balance, good layers, good heft. a little dim and dull in appearance, matte hazy brick red, and the tan head is average in size and retention. aroma is a little spicy, a cascade hop thing maybe, a light woodiness too, maybe centennial there, and then some classic pine and grapefruit, simcoe perhaps, or something like it, used rather liberally both in the kettle and as a dry hop addition it seems. the flavor is big, not quite sticky, but fuller feeling to me too, pine, bitter orange, dry bitter pop at the end, a toasted warmth to the grain without much sweetness, lots of body and apparent protein, earthy, autumnal, harvesty, not overly complex but whats here is cranked up near ten. good with some of the spicy and bolder foods in here, might overwhelm a salad, but overall a nice pint of beer that is just a little polishing away from being great...

First impression was some dryness and chalkiness. Seemed to have more of a malt forward nature, hops not as prevalent. Medium amber, wispy head, dry finish.
