i loved this, and have been really impressed by these guys overall. this is excellent beer, i expected with scottish in the name that this would be a big malty ale, amber colored, sweet, and strong, but its the opposite of all of that, and just employs the herb in a well crafted and unique blonde ale, a glorious pint for the springtime! it looks just off clear, golden in color, and with a frothy head that leaves pure white lace strewn along the edges of the glass after each sip. there is a nice biscuity malt base underneath, anything but bland, but also really dry other than a light floral honey note that runs through it, its a nice earthy backdrop for the heather, which ranges from tea-like botanical fresh aspects to an almost perfume element, lavender-esque or something, but also some bitterness later on as well, a really neat showcase of all sides of this herb, and with nice balance from the grain. its so flavorful that its easy to overlook that its also quite delicate and that the mouthfeel is as good as it is, medium bodied, real dry, nice and bubbly, refreshing even, but it also warms up super well. they should be really proud of this one, its unique and crushable and perfect for this time of year! one of the best beers they make here in my opinion!

Draft at brewpub. Hazy golden, small skin of head. Not your typical Scottish. Light malty, grainy aroma. Taste follows with a hint if earthy, grassy meadow notes. Not a sign of the normal peaty, tobacco flavors . More like a regular ale) lager. Jury's out on this one.
