on paper this sounds amazing, but in the glass its none of what it says it is, generically fruity without specific huckleberry character, little to no rhubarb tartness, and it doesnt drink like ipa at all, sweet and without bitterness, pale malty, weird beer but a cool idea that just doesnt come together, pleasant enough to sip, but its missing all of the stated elements, the beers were unspectacular here this time, to say the least. whats more is that the menu claims fresh fruit in here, and it also claims sabro and idaho 8 hops, which i didnt even know existed yet, so that this really didnt smell or taste like much felt like an especially big letdown. honey colored beer with some modest pale malt sweetness and toasted character in aroma and flavor, a fine foundation for both fruit and hops, but it is not to come. some subtle general berry in the taste, no rhubarb really at all, and maybe its dry hopped, i get some complimentary citrus and light grassy tones, but nobody drinking ipa in this day and age would call this hoppy, even if there is some nuance. it actually tastes pretty good, but all the key parts are absent, just sort of a glass of decent ale. it has me eager for a modern ipa with appreciable rhubarb though, i think i could take or leave the huckleberry in the recipe in my head, they certainly left it here. somewhat juicy, but grain forward and its only light still. a drinkable pour of beer, but just not what they set out to create and as such a disappointment. i guess ill have to wait to know what idaho 8 hops are like...
