Sampling a cold growler filled at the brewery and poured into a snifter. The beer pours a bright copper to amber color with a bit of garnet highlight. A frothy eggshell white head of 1 cm foams up and fades slowly a thin surface layer, leaving some large pock marks as the bubbles pop.
The aroma is some caramel malt and a bit of spiciness from cloves but also some dark fruit. I get a bit of red grape but no hops on the nose of this beer.
The first sip reveals an average body with fine rolling carbonation that simply caresses across my palate with each sip. The texture is smooth and doesnt coat my palate with any sort of stickiness.
The flavor is some sweet malt with caramel and again dark fruit, mostly red grape. I get a bit of spicy yeast on the finish with also vegetal and slightly spicy hop finish that lingers on my palate. The finish also dries out my palate on each sip.
This is a very drinkable beer with enough complexity to make you think about the beer as it flows down your throat.
