they call this one a brunch stout, brewed with vermont maple syrup and a bunch of oats in the mash, its unique and delicious, and i am again impressed by a post beer in terms of both recipe and quality of execution. its shiny black looking with a really dark almost nitro looking head on it, creamy and frothy but as dark as coffee itself, great lace as it drinks. aroma is gorgeous, i get the maple with the roast right away, but it doesnt smell sugary to me at all, and its neat how in the flavor the maple is obvious but the beer is drinkably dry for what it is, not just backsweetened with syrup, its dialed right in! great roasted character to the grain here, its heavy flavors without a heavy texture, definitely a coffee and a dark chocolate vibe to it, but the only element of sweetness at all is the maple, and its mild. the flavor is awesome, earthy with the oats, starchy and fuller feeling without being dense, creamy and smooth, the maple balances the bitterness of the dark grain at the end, and this is satisfying all over again with each sip. a nice compliment to the homemade whoopie pies they make in here. awesome stout, these guys deserve way more credit than they ever get for their beers...
