Pours a mahoghany brown and nearly black in the glass. Three fingers of tan foam rise momentarily above the rim, drippy lacing around the edges.
Aroma of toasted coconut and chocolate are prominent and long lasting.
Taste is more of the same, with a little bit of rum barrel heat, adding dimension and complexity. Finishes dry with a lingering aftertaste of chocolate and toasted coconut. Medium to light bodied, somewhat thin, though it never becomes difficult to drink as a result. Could use a little more heft or creaminess. Very surprised this is only 6%, as listed on the label. An improvement on the base beer, which is very good as well.

10oz snifter on tap at the brewery taproom in Fabulous Waukegan, IL.
Pour is very dark brown with a chocolate, dense head. Aroma is somewhat mesmerizing with toasted coconut, milk chocolate and roasted malts…luxurious. Taste is similar, with a very palatable rich rum flavor truly matching the chocolate and top-notched roasted coconut flavors…amazingly balanced. I have had some fabulous coconut stouts lately and this is one of them. Mouthfeel is about average for a milk stout.
This special version of the base beer is a real winner. I would love to try the base beer (which I hear is great) and other variants.
