22 ounce gold wax capped bottle purchased at the brewery 2-3 weeks ago, no dating on it but from looking at social media posts it looks like this was a late 2020 release. Served in a snifter, the beer pours a dark reddish/brown color with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. I like the aroma, the brew smells like caramel, bourbon, vanilla, plums and some toffee. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's the addition of some raisin, booze, cherry, and brown sugar flavors. I think the dark fruity flavors stand out here compared to the others. Wish the barrel character was stronger in the taste, too. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's slick and a bit creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this brew, although I do prefer my barleywines to be sweeter and less fruitier than this one. But if you're into fruit forward barleywines then give this one a try!
