A pretty basic coffee porter with a coffee flavour that doesn't stand out but brings balancing bitterness and earthy coffee to a stripped-to-essentials base beer. Hints of chocolate. Dark malt sweetness. Very no-frills.
Can't knock its balance. Wouldn't nab it again given the many better beers available at around the same price.

Received as an extra in a trade.
A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a nice dark brown hue with a one finger light mocha head that fades slowly to leave a thin, creamy blanket.
S - Aromas of nice roasty malts, little bit of older coffee, good solid oats. Roast comes out more as it warms, little flash of metallic notes, little bit of malt sweetness and brown sugar.
T - Taste is similar to the nose. nice roast malts, little bit of chocolate, creamy oats, coffee is rich and roasty, though almost a little over roasted/acrid. Decent lingering coffee bitterness.
M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, however, the body is on the lighter side. For having oats I expected this to be much creamier and smooth on the mouthfeel.
O - Overall this was certainly a solid porter. Really wish the mouthfeel was more rich and creamier though.

11/30/16 can, pored at about 60 degrees. Oatmeal gives a measurably thicker feel than the average porter, but this beer is all about that Ethiopian coffee. Deep, rich, acidic, bitter & roasted flavors run through from start to finish.

Had their oaked variant.
Served on tap at the brewery in a company goblet glass.
A - 5 - Couldn't ask for a better looking porter. Pitch black in color, full finger of dense, medium tan colored head and lasted a long time. Nice solid lacing.
S - 4.5 - Malts, full roasted coffee bean aroma, medium sweetness, light touches of vanilla.
T - 5 - Full on natural sweet vanilla bean upfront, super roasty malt, fades into a medium bitter coffee and chocolate finish. Really tasty, the oaked variant gives V@S a run for its money!
F - 5 - Full bodied brew, drinks like an imperial stout in the mouthfeel. Thick, coffee creamer consistency, lightly sticky and syrupy viscosity. Exactly where you want a warming beer such as this.
O - 5 - Porter don't normally do much for me, but this one blew me away. It drinks to me like an imperial porter, it is the ultimate slow sipping coffee porter experience. I absolutely can't wait for the day when these guys start bottling their stuff so I can bring some home! In the meantime, it is totally worth it to visit these guys and have some on tap!
