MERMAIDS & UNICORNS was inspired by all the fairytale worlds we experience as daddies of the 6 tiny girls in the True Vine Brewing Company family.
The aroma of MERMAIDS & UNICORNS is malty, biscuity, bready and holds hints of peach and other tropical aromas from the late addition of Cascade and Jarrylo hops. This smooth, clean finishing, mythical blonde is perfect for the Texas heat and eclectic cuisine.

Picked this up in Fort Stockton, Texas on my way home from my last trip out west. Never had anything from True Vine before as this looked interesting and perfect for Lone Star days in the sun, and that's exactly what this turned out to be. No, it's not noteworthy or memorable but it checked of all of the boxes for the style without being cheap and staying pretty much true to form.
The appearance to this was night as the liquid was a radiant gold with a few bits of dark sediment that settled at the bottom of the liquid. Enough frothy head topped this off as one thick ring remained near the middle of my glass. A good amount of suds could be found below that as the lacing left behind was fairly extensive. Lots of bread and biscuit in the nose with a bit of malt underneath that as the taste had honey, light citrus, a bit of peach, and earthiness. Mellow, full, and nicely carbonated, this had a fair amount of grain and bready spice in the back. Lots of facets to this although none were particularly strong or memorable as the end result was a brew for all seasons.
That could also be attributed to the low amount of alcohol here as this could easily have been followed up by another. Dated 11/24 on the bottom of the can with "CANNED W/ LOVE" written above it and "MERMAIDS AND UNICORNS" written below it, this held up well over the last eight months as I wish I could try this completely fresh. Lots going on here for an American Blonde Ale although this felt just a tad too dark and heavy for me. Thankfully, this mythical beer has been spotted and relatively easy to obtain!

Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance - The beer is served a clear golden color with a one finger head of white foam. The head fades fast leaving a little bit of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell - The aroma is light overall with a bit of tropical fruit and caramel. Along with these smells comes a touch of pine and earth.
Taste - The taste begins with a sweet light fruit with a bit of caramel and bread. Along with these flavors comes a little bit of grass and herb taste as well as a touch of pine. These tastes take the taste to the end and leave one with a fruity and lightly hopped taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel- The body of the brew is medium in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is average. The feel is good for the style and makes a easy drinking brew.
Overall - A decent psle overall. A little bit on the sweet side, but good overall.

12 oz. can to a tulip. Hazy golden color with lots of sediment.
Smells bready, yeasty, sour.
Taste follows nose with a slight sweetness, maybe honey like. A nice bitterness on the end.
Mouthfeel is smooth and full. Not watery.
Overall a good beer. Since it has been canned, (about a year), I have kept this beer in my fridge. I really like it and it is close, (40 mi). Worth a try to those that like the blonde style.
Drink up!!!
