Pours very dark brown with very little head, and the little that’s there quickly dissipates leaving no lacing on the glass or any foam on the surface of the beer. Aroma is typical bourbon barrel, with notes of oak and vanilla. It tastes quite nice. The bourbon barrel dominates, but as it warms an undertone of rich chocolate permeating throughout and hints of char. Reminiscent of a Dragon’s Milk, or (less so) of a Founders KBS. The mouthfeel is medium consistency, kind of creamy but thin at the same time like a watery syrup. Overall it isn’t worth the high price if other equally good or better barrel aged stouts are available. But price aside, it is one of the best offerings available at Books and Brews and an objectively good beer.

2018 batch, weighing in at 13.5% ABV. Pours black, thin in appearance, with more fizzy carbonation than expected for such a big bruiser of a BBA stout. Thin body but smooth mouthfeel. Dark roasts, bitter dark chocolate, a wisp of smoke. Quite a dry finish.

Wow, just a ton of boozy flavors and lots of chocolate. The mouth feel is really smooth and finished creamy. This could use some more time in the bottle. I'll pick up another one and find out.
