A bourbon barrel-aged malt liquor, weighing in at 35 IBUs and 10.1% ABV. OK, so a BBA malt liquor is hilarious as a concept; let's get that out of the way and ignore that I paid $20 for this bomber. Despite my overall enjoyment of Books & Brews' experimental offerings, I'm actually still surprised by how good this is. I'm not sure how this was made in terms of ingredients, but it nails a pale straw color with modest fizz on pouring. Plenty of corn and malt suggested on the nose, but also some nice fruity elements and only the slightest suggestion of sharp fusels. Sweet on the palate, but not cloying; primarily, the sweetness is derived from appealing fruit flavors, with pineapple and cherry on the fore, along with a bit of vanilla and oak from the barrel. The high alcohol content still overrides the sugars to produce a relatively dry finish. Not much true bourbon character coming through, but a really fun drink nonetheless. You know what? I would buy this again.
