July 27th, 2015 - Never, ever have I had a beer like this. I am walking into unexplored depths here, and I like it. And then I don't. The color is an attractive dark chocolate brown, and the aroma is inoffensive with a light roasted touch and a bit of fresh paper. The flavor is great too, at first, but then I get to chew on the mouthfeel, which is a little thin to support the flavors. Those include Aspen bark, freshly ground but cheap coffee beans, a touch of espresso and, unfortunately, cigarette ash. It's a surprising turn, and leads me to push away the rest of the sampler glass in favor of something better.
