Named for the rural Fauquier village where hundreds of ducks return in the Spring to make their summer homes, our Sumerduck Saison is our harbinger of spring with fruity Belgian esters, a subtle tartness, and delicate earthy notes. A touch of rye adds a peppery spice, and wheat malt a silky mouth feel to this easy drinking Farmhouse Ale.

On-tap at Highline RxR, on to the beer:
Half an inch of head sits on top this light gold colored beer. Little head retention on top, and mediocre lacing around. I think I smell a saison here; I get mint and a light bubblegum note which, while doesn't bring me the impression of the best, hopes to bring me something good. That isn't to be found. I do get echoes of dry bubblegum. There is vague spice, which unfortunately doesn't develop into something bigger. However, the vegetal aftertaste derails some of the mood. I guess you could say that this was a lame duck.

Poured a golden body with little head and lace. Aroma is a blend of yeast, candi sugar sweetness and tropical fruits. The beer is smooth and fuller bodied and has this wheat twang and there is a little of spiciness to it as well. Not much sour or tartness as the fruit flavors give off a sweeter than usual taste. A light and balanced saison that is a little sweet and has touches of Belgian complexity.

Nice, light gold in color. Aromas of barnyard, some hops, grass and hay. Taste was decent, a little funky and typical of this style. Finish was surprisingly clean and hardly any aftertaste

I could drink this all day! Has a nice tartness, finishing with some sweet, peppery early tones. Nice Job!

Much more of a Belgian blonde than a saison.
