Poured a semi-clear to semi-hazy amber with around 1 inch of head. Lots of lacing. Very pretty brew.
Not much in the way of smell. Spicy, herbal, ginger, cinnamon. Not really picking up much in the way of malt.
Taste follows the nose. Not bad, but not what I was expecting. The can says "rich malt flavors balanced with ginger, honey, and cinnamon." However, a pronounced hops bitterness that overpowers the malts to such a degree that Phoenix's description falls flat.
Good carbonation. Fairly light bodied for a warmer. Needs to be closer to medium.
Decent enough beer, though not one I'd buy again. Too much hops and ginger, not enough malt.

16 OUNCE can
Served in a Phoenix Brewing pint glass
This beer pours a brilliant copper hue with burnt orange highlights. It is topped with an inch of tan head that leaves scant lacing.
The cinnamon and honey seem to stand out to me. Ginger follows closely.
The taste follows the smell. Sweetish flavor. I get cinnamon and honey with the ginger rounding out the taste. Not overly spiced like a lot of Christmas ales are.
Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel
I prefer this to the overspiced winter warmers.

Medium amber body, clear; excellent head, dense and creamy; spidery fingers and nice rings of foam scale down the glass. Mild malt nose; nutty; earthy spiciness; peppery. Malty flavor with an herbal and spicy kick; slightly phenolic. Medium-heavy body; velvety soft; mild underlying warmth.
A nicely balanced beer; malty; light to moderate holiday spiciness.

Clear, dark honey body; excellent carbonation; thick and frothy off-white head. Very faint smell; mild toasted grain scent; slight note of char. Excellent malt-forward taste; toasty caramel; moderate hop bitterness. Heavy body; crisp and warm on the palate.
For a winter warmer, this beer does the trick. The taste and mouthfeel warm and cheer the palate with toasty pleasure. Personally, I like the apparent lack of spice adjuncts. This beer relies on malt, yeast and hops to create this fine cold weather brew.

22 ounce bottle, bottled on 12-9-19. Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer pours a hazy burnt orange/amber color with about a half inch light tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. The brew smells like cinnamon, ginger, caramel, bready malt and some honey. I think the taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but there's also some earthy/grassy hop flavor noticeable too. Sweet and spicy overall, but not overpoweringly so which is a good thing in this case. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's smooth and easy to drink with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was an enjoyable winter warmer, worth a try! $9.99 a bomber.
