I am trying this beer off the tapper at the brewery as part of a four sample flight. It poured an opaque dark with tan head that is not leaving much lace. The scent had dark chocolate, molasses, and vanilla notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to sip with sweet malt base with dark chocolate and vanilla presence. The mouthfeel was fuller in body and had smooth carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

22 OUNCE bottle
Served in a Phoenix Brewing Company nonic pint glass
Bottled 4/12/18
This beer pours black and is topped with a minimal mocha head that leaves no lacing.
The smell has dark fruit, anise. cocoa, and roasted malt.
The taste is dark roasted malt and anise. I get hints of dark, ripe fruit. There is some black coffee and unsweetened chocolate in the finish.
Full bodied with a thick, chewy mouthfeel
This is a very good, big stout. The year and of half of aging didn't hurt it at all.
