oak aged saison, collaboration with otherlands, really solid beer, exactly the kind of saison i want, unique on the fermentation even if its not fully wild and bretted out, and refined to a real high degree, rustic but dialed, this is the good stuff. i have not had much from either brewery, but this makes me want to seek it out. orange to rust colored brew, bright but not quite clear from the tap, one inch of white fizzing head, airy and belgian looking, lively and tidy. the nose is light farmy brett, musty basement, dried herbs, light lemony bacterial tang, pear and green apple saison yeast esters, white pepper and clove, honey and oak, some malt sweetness too, and a mixed grain vibe, rye possible. the taste is so subtle but so unique, balanced well, hoppy and bitter through much of it, woody and smooth too, light in body but still grain driven, deeply earthy, both springy and blooming but also autumnal and decaying, full cycle, black pepper spice, noble hop spice, rye spice, but its delicate too. highly effervescent in texture, which i love in the style, almost makes this move too quick, like the ferment hits me all at once and then its kind of gone, more time with the wood and the brett and the esters would be cool, it does open as it warms, but it stays brisk. this is really well put together, very patient with the secondary fermentation, the right amount of wood to not overtake this. downright delicious, would love to try the bottled version, could see that conditioning doing a lot for this, and its sure to age well. need more from both of these breweries! what a treat this is.

Pours a hazy but bright amber gold with a substantial bubbly head reducing to a decent cap. Excellent retention and plenty of lacing. Nose is grapefruit, tart and funky lacto, with a tangy and bitter finish. Taste follows suit to a tee. Mouth feel is crisp overall but not acidic or biting. Excellent beer.
