i had been really looking forward to this one ever since their lemon zombie saison blew my mind earlier this summer. this isnt the same base beer or anything i dont think, but i was curious to try one of their bretty offerings, after they had the clean side of the style so dialed in that one. awesome packaging on this, a funky wild brett saison, perhaps less interesting than i anticipated it would be, relying almost exclusively on the fermentation for flavor, but the brett to me seems familiar, regardless of its origin, and this ends up being very good, but also somewhat samey, not what i was expecting. golden in color with some light hazy, high rising white airy head like beaten egg whites on top, its fizzy and was eager to get out of this bottle, tons of carbonation the whole drink. nose of barnyard funkiness, wet hay, wet animal, wet paper, and wet lawn, some saison yeast evident with the brett, light white pepper and citrus behind the funkiness, brett is mature, maybe brux driven, no real tartness evident, like medicinal character, pils malt and white wheat on the grain side it seems. the taste is similar, the brett is funky and rustic, but its not unique, the saison yeast is peppery and lightly fruity, while the grain is bready but dry, hearty and sturdy in texture rather than delicate, and overall this is quite expertly made, even if its not quite as dynamic as i was anticipating. its nice and fizzy, dry, and fluffy feeling, with some peppery and almost allspice esters on the finish, musty basement funkiness, high minerality, more hops than a lot of these have playing up the spice component, and full on wyoming vibes somehow. neat beer, im sure it will age will given more time. these guys are way under the radar, but they are easily making some of the best beers in the state. cool brett saison here, simple in some ways, but its nicely composed.

1 pint, 6 ounce bottle. No dating but this has to be really new. Only 4 check ins on Untappd.

It pours a hazy yellow with oodles of foam that just doesn't quit. The bottle, I had to watch as it kept oozing and oozing.

The nose is bitter hops and a very large presence of Brett. I mean very large and that's why Wild Saison is in the name.

Huge Brett taste, makes it very dry besides the obvious funk. Pilsen malt and Saaz hops are used and I can taste the hoppiness, more than the malt, which I expected. It has a fruity note or two but I reckon that's an attribute of the hops.

Nothing wrong with the body/mouthfeel.

Surprisingly good! ~$12 for the bottle, iirc.
