Czech Dark lager has received the full-on single decoction method, whereby a portion of the mash is boiled separately in an effort to draw out even more malt character.
Slowly fermented, and naturally carbonated by capturing as much residual CO2 as possible, we notice impressions of slight cappuccino roast, wheat like bread crust, and a delicate background roast finish for what easily could be the ultimate autumn into winter beer.

Tap pour at the taproom. Served chilled in a dimpled mug.
Dark brown colored head. Creamy tan colored head. Leaves behind some small lacing spots.
Aroma of lightly roasted malts with caramel and chocolate.
Taste is roasted grains with additional flavors of chocolate and caramel. Sweet overall. Late touch of dark fruit. Aftertaste extends with all flavors.
More than medium mouthfeel. Creamy and mouth coating. Low bitterness. Good carbonation.
Fits for style, with a tasty blend of malty flavors.

12 oz can
pours very dark brown, almost black, 1 finger of khaki colored head that eventually fades. as the beer warms up a bit the aroma is very pleasant - slightly roasty, a bit of toasted bread, dark caramel, some nuttiness. similar flavors in the taste, balanced finished, neither sweet nor dry. medium to fuller bodied.

Black color. 1-finger beige head. Flavor profile is quite weird and unpleasant for me. I get some earthy notes, but also a hint of licorice, and some soapy off-flavors. Some unwanted chemical reactions in the wort? Yeast cells dying? The mouthfeel is good. Well carbonated. Silky smooth. Just an odd flavor and lingering aftertaste.

From tasting notes 11/10/18
Had on-tap at Triple Crossing Brewing (Fulton) in Richmond, VA
Appearance - Served up in a stemmed wine glass, black with hints of dark ruby where light can penetrate. Mostly barren surface with a thin ring of suds around the edge. Fair lacing with broken lines and spotting.
Smell - Light coffee roast, nuttiness and a hint of berry sweetness.
Taste - Follows the nose. Light, roasty base with a touch of nutty earth and light notes of dark berry sweetness. Finish comes quick, lingers with fading roast and trace of berry.
Mouthfeel - Light in body with fair carbonation. Slick, easy drinker before a crisp, slightly dry finish.
Overall - Pretty good dark lager, but I cant help it to feel like this tasted like a watered down porter, so maybe I should just drink a porter instead? Maybe a better summer option than late fall.
