A selection of Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout comprised of 4 separate bourbon barrels originally containing 2 different types of American Whiskey. The combination of our purpose built Imperial Stout grist, a tightly controlled house ale fermentation, whiskey soaked charred deep dark oak, and the end all variable of time, has gotten us to this point.
We taste impressions of barrel derived coconut, Madagascar vanilla, and cocoa powder, with a tobacco like dark brown sugar laden finish.
We couldn’t be prouder of the team of people that make Triple Crossing what we are, and just as much for the unending support shown by all of you for the past 6 years. Take this one down, and we’ll see you all on the other side of this thing.

No bottling date (released on 4/16/20, so presumably bottled within a few days of that date); consumed on 1/28/21
Pours an oily, glossy, jet-black body capped with about ¾ of a finger of fluffy, dark mocha foam; decent head retention leaves minimal islands of paper-thin cap, a substantial, richly creamy collar, and dense webs of chunky lacing circling around the walls of the glass.
Aroma opens with charry oak and an immediately apparent, dense, weighty bourbon profile, a fog of boozy heat introducing touches of cherry and tobacco while milk chocolate intermingles with malty roast; slight vanilla and tinges of coconut accents fade into the back end of the bouquet.
Taste features splintery oak and airy caramel accenting a bourbon-forward profile upfront; with time, this opens to waves of baker's chocolate and fresh cacao past mid-palate, along with more creamy milk chocolate and charry vanilla on the back end, easing into a burnt fudge brownie finish.
Mouthfeel brings a full body, semi-slick texture, and light carbonation, fading to a delicate spritz which in turn phases into a building grit clinging to the palate; a clean char eases into the back end, culminating with an almost abrupt though welcome dryness into the finish; a soft, vaguely discernible warmth encompasses the palate from start to finish.
Initially overrun with remnants of a heavy-handed barrel treatment, some air allows the best elements of this stout to shine through, ultimately resulting in a robust spectrum of chocolate, bittersweet and as equally amplified as it is overwhelmed by the bourbon; a spirit-heavy sipper with persistent, darker malt undertones.
