Brewed in February of 2019, this English-style Barleywine was sent to rest in bourbon barrels for 16 months, all the while continually developing its barrel aged character. We then selected 4 of those barrels to condition on both a measured blend of Vanilla beans sourced from multiple worldwide regions, and in-house toasted coconut.
Speaking of those adjunct additions, this is where we’ll intentionally break the 4th wall for a moment - the goal of the adjunct additions in this and all of our beers that receive them, is to elevate the intrinsic character developed during the barrel-aging process, not to overwhelm the heart of what we worked tirelessly to coax out of the whiskey soaked oak.
The approach with our adjunct additions, much like in all things we do, is done with careful consideration. It’s a well thought out application of carefully selected, in house processed ingredients... it ain’t all gas and no brakes.
With that said, we taste impressions of hazelnut liqueur, bourbon soaked chocolate chip banana bread, and an almond joy essence finish. 12% ABV.

Poured deep brown with no head present. Heavy bourbon, dark fruits, vanilla, with a little spice at the nose. The tastes follows similarly; very sweet but not cloying. It’s very decadent with smooth bourbon without too much heat. Plenty of dark fruits with vanilla that seems more prominent as it warms. Faint notes of coconut as well. Mouthfeel is full bodied, but not too hot or sticky. Absolutely loved every drop of this, I see no flaws in this brew. Delicious!

500 mL bottle. Deep amber. Smells of coconut, brown sugar, bourbon. Tastes of brown sugar and coconut. Lots of booze. Bourbon and alcohol burn in the finish. Heavy and sweet. It's ok.

The beer pours very light off-white head and dissipates very quickly. The beer itself is a very dark brown with slight red and purple hues that look nice.
The smell is wonderful. It has a strong blend of notes such as vanilla, a moderate coconut in the finish, and a sweet bourbon that ties it all together. There is a slight chocolate note and a dark fruit raisin as well. However, there is a slight booze note in the finish when it warms up.
The taste is absolutely fantastic. It has a delicious mix of all the different notes upfront to create an indulgent candy liquor flavor. The notes that come out upfront consist of a sweet bourbon, noticeable coconut, and milk chocolate. The beer then transitions to a sweet bourbon with raisin notes.
The feel is good. It has a heavy body but smooth and slick texture. There is a slight tingling but not much.
Overall, an indulgent and delicious beer worth getting. It's certainly different from the style guidelines but it's well worth getting if possible.
