Despite others… I happily discovered this on by its on sale sticker this Summer at BC liquor store…
The price was right…
The hop flavour was right…
The malt sweetness was right as was the effervescence if that’s a beer thing…
Too many times am I disappointed by more expensive Lagers and North American style Pilsners…
Too much flavour in one way or another…
Perfect balance here and at a level 5% so one can enjoy a couple or more and carry on…
It ain’t fancy but I like it…

Clear yellow-straw color. Poured a moderate head that dropped down to a patchy skiff after a minute. Medium-light flow of mixed sized bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. No lacing.
Mild yeast scents. Slightly sweet. Swirling the glass kicked up a light barnyard.
Some yeast funk in the flavor. Slightly sweet with a touch of tart and a hint of bitters. Just a hint of lightly roasted malt shows up when it warms a bit. The aftertaste has some stronger bitters and a bit more malt. Slight metallic and fishy flavors started to show up as it warmed up a bit more, especially if held in the mouth for a while.
A bit of tongue tingling as it turned to a coarse bubbled foam. Light body. Slight astringency.
Pretty basic lager. It might be a good base for a standard radler. Unfortunately it has the metallic/fishy taste that is so common with West Coast Canadian lagers. To fix this, I would experiment with adding some limestone chips to the mix. I'm pretty sure that the pH was corrected for lager yeast, but that still leaves the mineral content as a difference from places that make great lagers.

Summer day lager, definitely on the thinner side in looks and taste. Just a personal preference, but I like a lager with a certain heaviness, so that it sloshes into a glass in almost slow motion.
Taste is there but subtle, and could be an occasional visitor to the summer deck

355ml can, a single from the Real Canadian Liquorstore, where they know how to get rid of breakages, i.e. a buck-fiddy a pop! This is apparently a re-formulation of the 'original' Deep 6 lager.
This beer pours a clear, bright pale golden yellow colour, with three fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and somewhat creamy bone-white head, which leaves some decent broken chainlink fence pattern lace around the glass as it lazily subsides.
It smells of bready and crackery cereal malt, a bit of generic pome fruitiness, sort of edgy lager yeast, and some very plain earthy, musty, and dead floral 'green' hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy pale malt, stale apples and pears, more musty yeastiness, and some so-so leafy, weedy, and musky floral 'verdant' hoppiness.
The carbonation is average in its palate-coddling frothiness, the body a solid medium weight, and mostly smooth, nothing really getting in the way of a good time here. It finishes off-dry, the grainy cereal essence showing the most lingering elan.
Overall - while this isn't a particularly bad brew, the expectation from something labeled 'west coast' is that the hoppy bitterness will be brought in spades, which is essentially not, in this case. Still, easy enough to put back, in that simple Bowen Island manner.
