Serving: 650 mL bottle (stamped "10/16"), poured into a small nonic glass.
Appearance: Hazy brownish orange. Pours with a terrific off white, latte foam head and keeps a persistent foamy cap and streaky lace.
Smell: Unexpected wet hay, farmyard and vinegar notes intermingle with wood and vanilla.
Taste: More tart and funk: sherry vinegar, goat cheese. Toffee, caramel malt, oak, vanilla, bourbon and some hoppy earth and citrus all emerge as well. Clean, bitter finish.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium body and medium carbonation.
Overall: Some interesting notes and still drinkable, but the dominating funk and sour notes suggest it picked up more than just bourbon barrel character while aging.
