Served in a small snifter at the brewpub.
Quick review from notes.
Dark brown, nearly black under the dim bar lighting. Tan foam and lacing around the edges, creamy texture on the surface. Lasting head retention.
Aroma is strongly roasty, charred malt and coffee notes.
Taste is a bit harsh, roasty astringency and bitterness tend to dominate. Light bodied with ample carbonation. Lingering roasty aftertaste. Seems more like a Schwarzbier with the heavy handed roast... Munich Dunkels typically are more subtle with a touch of sweetness. Needs some tweaking before I'd get it again.
