Served in a small snifter at the brewpub.
Quick review from notes.
Bright pale gold, sharp clarity, with rising carb trails visible.
Thin skim on the surface, not much head retention.
Aroma has a nice fruity note of melon, natural and not sweet, that contrasts a typically phenolic Belgian yeast profile.
Taste has an astringent bitterness and phenolic yeast note, pepper and clove linger. The melon is present but subtle, and gets lost with the astringency and phenolics dominating. Light bodied and crisp, medium carb level. I liked this a lot from the aroma, but after spending time with it there wasn't much to keep me interested. Saisons need complexity, not just a spice heavy yeast strain.
