750 ml bottle, bottle #180 of 202, bottled on 3/30/15. Served in a DFH snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. I like the aroma, the brew smells like bourbon, vanilla, roasted malt, nuttiness, chocolate and some dark fruit. The taste is pretty much just like the aroma, it tastes like bourbon, oak, vanilla, dark fruit (cherry), roasted malt, nuts, and chocolate. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's slick and has a good amount of carbonation. I thought this was pretty good, this is the 2nd High Water Series brew from them I've tried and I liked them both. I'll definitely have to stop in again the next time I'm in Louisville! $14 a bottle purchased at the brewery.

This is from their "High Water" series to commemorate their one year anniversary. An imperial porter aged in bourbon barrels with vanilla. This is bottle 123 of 202 produced on 3/30/2015.
Bottle to tulip.
A: A semi-aggressive pour yielded a slightly amber head that was thick and frothy with coarse bubbles at the top and gradually tapered to fine bubbles at the liquid surface. Very dark brown with only slight hues of transparency at the edges. The head retreats to a coarse bubble rim that does not fade for a while. This is not particularly thick. Stable laces.
S: This has a very moderate fragrance and you are initially met with dark malts nicely balanced with bourbon-soaked oak. The bourbon barrel is there. More notes become apparent after it opens: almonds, hops, vanilla, and buttery caramel sauce.
T: The taste is quite complex with vanilla, bourbon, bourbon barrel, and the base porter. A little coffee/coco/hoppy bitterness is midway in the palette, which plays nicely with the sweetness of the bourbon and oak. The booze is well hidden and very appropriate. The vanilla complements the other characteristics very well without being overwhelming. With that said, there are no overwhelming elements of this beer at all.
M: Full body, high carbonation, robust, and a tad bit thin.
O: A nice barrel-aged porter from guys at Great Flood. A barrel program is essential and for a small brewery to throw this down after one year is commendable. This is a well crafted beer. I had this on tap at the release and this bottle seems the same. I hope Great Flood keeps putting more of their beer in barrels. I can't wait for the next anniversary .
