12 oz. bottle poured into a willibecher.
A- Very light straw. Fantastic clarity. White head is dense, however retains mediocrely. Great lacing, though.
S- Floral and fruity hop aroma. Mild toasty/biscuit malt.
T- Light straw. Floral hop. Delicate flavors.
M- Light, crisp. Just a faint lingering dryness.
O- Fine example of a Kölsch. Light, crisp, refreshing summer drinker.

Reviewing this within the style, given that I'm deeply opposed to kölschs generally. Color is straw, a small head and a touch of lacing. Nose is a touch of candy malt, some light fruitiness. Maybe a whiff of hops. Very mild. Limited flavor, although I guess that's the kölsch way. (I seriously don't get it...why would people drink this?)

maybe a little bland or watery for some beer geeks, but this is insanely drinkable, and i can see its appeal in hot weather, and it was a good addition to the summer box this year, no doubt. we need beers like this, craft alternatives to the macro yellow beer, and kolsch is a great style for that. this one isnt real unique, but it is real well made. light even for the style, there isnt much grain body or flavor to this, just a pale two row base. there is a cool german yeast thing going on, clean and delicate, but giving it a nice round flavor and feel, and a good pinch of euro type hops in there too for the finish. highly carbonated makes it very refreshing, and the fast finish keeps me thirsty for another one. this is one of those beers where it feels like a whole bottle is gone in just a couple of sips over a few minutes, its just so easy going. victory has been slow to get much traction in colorado, but their beers are all very good. i expect to see it blow up before too long out here.
