they must have started making this one again, on tap at lucky pie downtown, and a really unimpressive beer, maybe the worst i have had from these guys, why are usually spot on, especially with these more basic styles. the pour is pretty nasty looking, indian brown in color, with a ton of sediment and cloudiness, not sure why thats there, yeasty even for an english example of the style, not not really much head on it, really pretty sloppy for a brown. the nose and taste are equally unimpressive. its one dimensional, chocolate malt and a little maris otter type, a little sweet, but really bland on the grain front, and the yeast is uneventful for how much of it remains in suspension here, i expected a lot more, maybe one of those beers thats not much to look at but tastes amazing, but thats just not the case here, really safe and lackluster overall. a mild bitterness to balance in the finish, and a bready overly yeasty feel without the flavor of any real familiar english strain. these guys are capable of far better than this. no reason for it to be flat either. seems like a bad keg, i have not known victory to miss the mark like this very often...

Light brown beer with nice clarity. Short cropped bone head has sunken and struggles to leave trail along the glass.
English milding malts and perfumey hops. Toastiness is not pronounced, but there. Hushed aroma.
Tangy and malty, but attenuated. Hops are a light floral note that keeps things interesting. Some light pomme and nuttiness. Not an elegant beer, but passably decent.
Carbonation is a little low, body a little drab. Still drinks good.
An okay beer. Not a solid session ale, just decent. I could drink this at a social gathering, one after another.
