Pours jet black with fine, milk chocolate colored head.
Smell is rich and sweet with notes of coffee, coffee grounds, dark chocolate and a hint of tobacco.
taste is sweet and roasted with notes of coffee, coffee grounds, tobacco, leather and dark chocolate with a bit of bitterness. Just a tiny hint of maple syrup, that grows a little with some warmth.
Mouthfeel is medium to full, well carbonated.
Overall, a really nice stout, even though I would have wanted more maple syrup coming through. That may be because of the two years it spent in my fridge before getting drunk.

Pours a dark caramel-brown with a fat finger of dense, mocha-colored head that leave sloppy sheets of lacing.
Coffee, nuts, wood show first in the nose when cold — although none too strong. There is some maple candy sweetness and a touch of bourbon as well lurking behind.
The taste is a great, balanced mix of chocolate, coffee, vanilla, bourbon and amaretto. The maple is very reserved, but there is a nice underlying, earthy sweetness.
It’s medium bodied and creamy with nice, tight carbonation.
The coffee bitterness plays really well against the light but layered sweetness in this. None of the elements here are dialed up to eleven like in many of the top-rated beers these days. Instead, it rests on its well-balanced complexity. Really well crafted treat here.
