Pours a rich orange gold with a white head. As with the Fest Bier the nose is hard to pin down given the situation. But there is a pleasant fresh grain and faint pumpkin note. Mouth is crisp pilsner malt, light hop bitterness, crusty bread. Light pumpkin sweetness. More sugar here and more bready malt character than their standard pilsners, in fact most like the Festbier, by a mile. A touch lighter with more crisp, snappy character though. This is a winner though it took a bit of getting used to.

On tap @ the Victory Brewing Company (Downingtown, PA) on 8/5/11. Served in a stange.

Pours a clear copper, topped with a finger or so of rich bright-white head. This retains with a smooth thin creaminess and some sudsy looking edging in particular, which leaves back a decent amount of lacing down the sides of the glass. The aroma smells of grass, spice, and some leafy citrus flavors. Underneath lays notes of bread, a splash of caramel, and a light touch of some eggy smelling protein. This just has a nice fresh smoothness to it in the nose.

The taste has a really nice balance to it on the palate, with a combination of assertive leafy bitterness and then some softer tones of malt and fruit behind it. This just has a quick snap of flavor to it across the palate before trailing a bit of lingering bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a crisp and clean feel throughout that just matches up so well with the overall flavor profile. This is quite the thirst quenching and drinkable stuff and this was honestly just as good coming cold out of the tap as it was after warming up a bit.

This was quite a tasty take on an Export Lager, with an overall tightness to the profile and feel that really gave this a maximum crispness on the palate. I really enjoyed this and could have easily put a few glasses back.
