2017 RIS tasting. Bomber. Still seeking the killer beer. Another perfectly normal RIS, black body small, tan head. Roast grains, chocolate and coffee in the aroma. Taste is the same but with some sweet notes and perhaps more accent on the chocolate.

L: Poured from a bomber purchased November 2016. Pours a very dark brown with a small khaki head that fades quickly, very nice lacing.
S: Cocoa, coffee and a whiff of bourbon.
T: Similar. Improves as it warms.
F: Very smooth and creamy, oatmeal seems to do that.
O: I guess I have to make trip down to Lemont, Illinois later this fall to get a couple more. Tasty stuff!

22 ounce bottle into a snifter. Had 12/29/16.
Pours a deep brown, mostly opaque, with a half inch, quickly dissipating head and some very spotty lacing. The smell is bourbon, malt, cocoa, milk chocolate, oak, raisins, light cherries, some toffee. Really good aroma. The taste pretty much follows along- bourbon, malt- lighter than typical for the style, chocolate, some cocoa, light vanilla, raisins, oak, some figs. Smooth, a little lighter bodied, but it supports the barrels, an appropriate level of carbonation.
The bourbon is the star. Well blended flavor and aroma, even with the lighter malt presence. Very enjoyable, it kind of grew on me as I worked through the bottle.
