Really pleasant smell on the nose, great flavor. Strong and boozy but very balanced despite this. The flavor of the beer really lingers on your tongue. It's a warming and robust brew. Very good Barrel aged brew.

I had this on draft 10/23/23 @ the Hopleaf.
Black/brown appearance.
Small dark tan head; decent lacing remained.
Maple syrup & booze notes in the nose.
Thick sticky mouthfeel.
Maple syrup, sweet chocolate & booze heat on the palate.
Over-the-top sweetness; not for me.

L: Pours a very dark brown with a tan head that fades quickly, no lacing but it leaves an oily film.
S: Lotsa goodies for the snot locker, coffee, vanilla, chocolate.
T: Taste buds get all that, and that's the problem.
F: My gut feeling says too much junk. This does go down easy for 13%.
O: I bought a single cuz it said hi-rye bourbon barrels, it's way too sweet.

This is an Imperial Milk Stout aged in Rabbit Hole Heigold (2021) / Basil Haden High Rye (2020) / Breckenridge Rye (2019) Bourbon barrels with Cocoa Nibs, Maple, Vanilla Bean, and Tugboat coffee. There's a lot going on here. A little too much. The bourbon is really strong in the smell but the taste is a lot of coffee forward with some maple at the end. It is smooth but the flavors don't balance out all that well.

Black oily pour with brown edging and collar, swirling grey surface lacing. Coffee coated semi-sweet chocolate meets rye whiskey and oak before finishing sweet with maple and vanilla in nose. Taste is almost something different all together and is quite nice: nonpareil chocolate with vanilla tones is bathed in rye whiskey with maple oozed oak, coffee, earth, cola, and more vanilla darken then brighten as a fluid dynamic to finish. It is sweet but not cloying, gets deeper as it warms. Very smooth cool body with decent whiskey, vanilla and sweet textures. Nice sweet stout

Fall 2020 Vintage
Pours a dark brown black with subtle carbonation, no head and no lacing.
Nose is rye, oak, coffee shop, char, chocolate, and heavy vanilla to round it out.
Taste is well balanced, the spicy rye barrel complements the roast malt, coffee and char, not a true pastry but the vanilla also pops, encouraging another sip. Not boozy and the complexity makes it one to take your time with. Medium to heavy thickness.
Overall, a very strong effort and very tasty.

16oz can dated: "Remember that one time? 10/20/20" and poured into a pint glass shows an opaque, dark, mahogany/maple colored body briefly sporting wispy islands of cinnamon colored tiny bubbles leaving a clean glass behind.
Coffee, maple, caramel, and fresh air aromas waft from the glass producing a smile and the flavors match. This, not IPA's, or anything lighter than a brown, frankly, is where lactose belongs. Cacao flavor builds with warmth along with the coffee. On the sweet side.
Mouthfeel is full, leaning thick and chewy, with the caramel influence, and finishes clean.
Overall a very nice desert beer with 13% abv completely hidden. Try with sticky buns or monkey bread if you are out of milk or coffee.

16 ounce can into a snifter. Canned 10/8/19, had 11/16/19.
Pours a thick looking dark brown, opaque, with a short head and no lacing. The aroma begins with a blast of coffee, then maple, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, some chocolate, light bourbon. Coffee also opens the flavor, then bourbon, vanilla, cocoa, chocolate, less maple than the nose. Smooth, a bit creamy, a solid full body, well carbonated.
Loads of great coffee, and the other add- ins all show pretty well. The barrels are solid, too. Distinct aromas and flavors- they told you what to expect and delivered on it. Very enjoyable. Well worth a purchase if it comes around again.
