Companion Cream Ale

July 7th, 2015 - I'm never much of a fan of cream ales, and part of my review of Blue Spruce's reveals the reason. Though the color is an appreciably rich looking custard, the aroma is not terribly appealing. With a slight vanilla note, it mostly smells like a wet paper towel, which rankles my snoot. But the flavor is quite excellent and interesting. It is heavy on candied and peanuts, with maybe just a touch of excessive sweetness. There's some marshmallow and banana skin in there too, on a thicker palate. Though the palate isn't to my liking, it's a finer version than I've had in the past.
