Not too dissimilar to Tugboats Anchor but with greater yeast presence. A comparison between the two can be built on the edgy bittering and the nonexistent head/lace. But the ESB had a slight fragrance to it (which I noted for a moment but couldnt relocate a moment later when seeking to describe it). The ESB is less balanced than the Anchor, more transparent, and has a blush of ripe pumpkin color. Not a bad beer at all. But given the option, choose the Anchor.

Appearance: clear orange in color with a short 1" head that lingers a bit and forms a bit of lace. Some slow moving carbonation bubbles rise to the top.
Smell: none, natta, zilch.
Taste: light bready maltiness, with some caramel, soft orange citrus tones, and a hint of spicy bitterness. Some yeast tones were also detectable. This just didn't come together as a whole.
Mouthfeel: crisp and lightly dry from start to finish. Very short aftertaste. Light-medium bodied.
Drinkability: average session beer here that just doesn't excite the senses. Try something else.
