L: Poured from a can to a pint glass. Had a bright color and a slightly hazy consistency. There was a 1 1/2" creamy, off white, fairly long-lasting head. Very good lacing.

S: A decent, but slightly underwhelming, aroma of malt, hops, caramel, and a little citrus fruit.

T: Tasted of a moderate amount of sweet malt (present throughout), some hops, a pronounced grassy quality (too much), a hint of citrus fruit (lemon), and light caramel notes. Like the aroma, the flavor is pretty underwhelming. It's kind of on the thin side, and the grassy quality does it no favors. It has the bones of a good amber, but it doesn't follow through.

F: A good amount of carbonation with a smooth, if a little watery, finish. Medium-bodied.

O: An uneven beer all around. Could've been better, but it has good qualities.

Fills a Three Sheeps fisheye pint glass a murky, dark copper (SRM 16-17). The frothy white head reaches one inch before quickly dropping half an inch and lingering as a creamy cloud.

Caramel and tea biscuits provide the base aroma while cookie dough and tea fill out the bill. Unfortunately there is a faint soapiness as well.

The flavor closely follows the nose with surprisingly high bitterness for an Amber Ale. The bitterness continues to build into a long finish. Warmth accentuates the caramel.

This has a creamy texture and ample carbonation as well as a full body and modest astringency.

Brue Scarlet is a fine everyday beer to be enjoyed with friends after work.

S: Slight hops

T/F: Like an ale slight bitter but nothing extreme. Thin, light feel.

O: Meh.
