This appears very dark brown while pouring, but is (SRM 35-40) black in an Antiek snifter. The one-inch frothy chestnut foam crackled as it settled to form a quarter inch creamy cap.
Whiskey is clearly present in the aroma, yet not bold. Mixed dark fruits follow such as raisins, plums, and cherries. Roasted malt is present, but subdued. Warmth ushers in black coffee and malted milk balls.
The aromas carry throughout the flavor, but are rather mild and muddy. Whiskey is the only clear element. Still this is rather tasty with a mild, quick, sweet/bitter finish. Warmth reveals lactose.
Carbonation is ample and fine, leading to a nylon texture in this medium bodied beer. Alcohol, while lingering in the background, is clearly present. This is a dry Stout.
I enjoyed this beer on a warm November afternoon while watching football and reading.

Pours nearly jet black with a billowing thick deep beige head atop.Mild lactic-like cherry and coffee roast roast aromas with a bit of char thrown in.Not as sweet as I thought it would be on the palate, the light tartness from the cherries as well as bitter chocolate, earth and roast/char keeps that sweetness in check.I find this to be pretty complex and the feel is great for the beer, the sourness from the cherries plays a nice role wich isn't overbearing wich is what I like.

This is hardly complex; its a cherry flavored stout that tastes like chocolate covered cherries and just a hint of coffee. Supposedly it's barrel aged but I didn't taste any of the barrel qualities. What I did get was a delicious beer.
