Poured from a 12 oz can bought at the brewery in North Carolina.

L - Hazy light gold; glows orange when held up to a light. Thick, sticky, off-white head that lasts and lasts and creates solid, opaque sheets of lace on the glass. Very impressive head.

S - Nice aroma for a DIPA. Huge hops nose of sharp citrus fruit blended with softer, sweeter tropical fruits. There is also a somewhat sweet, bready malt note that is appropriate for the style. Very clean with no yeast notes. Alcohol is barely noticeable as a sweet aroma in the finish, but does not smell hot or boozy.

T - Hop-forward flavors with all the citrus and tropical fruit noted in the aroma, but also a bit of herbal character. Again there is bready malt and no fermentation character.

F - Medium to thick body feel sticky and leaves sweetness behind to coat the mouth. Medium carbonation. High hops bitterness is softened by the thick mouthfeel and sweetness. Some alcohol apparent, but its subtlety belies the 10.2% ABV.

O - There is no doubt this is a tasty beer. I am choosing to consider it a New England-style Double IPA, rather than a traditional West Coast example, although I don't know what the brewer intended. The thick body, sweetness, and strong tropical fruit hops lead me to that conclusion, as some of those would be flaws in a West Coast variant. This is too yummy to complain about, so I'll call it a Double NEIPA and just enjoy!

Classic DIPA. Poured a straw-yellow typical of the style with a nice head of foam. Nice tropical citrus notes in the nose and in the taste with a dry mouthfeel. 10.2% is well-hidden in this extremely drinkable ale!

On draught at the Beer Study in Chapel Hill. It pours hazy, orange-amber color with a thin, ecru-colored head and lots of bubbles. The rather subdued nose features fairly sweet malt and floral hops. The taste opens with sweet malt and a touch of caramel up front, followed by resinous pine needles, and subtle lemon peel and grapefruit rind from the Mosaic hops. At the finish the Amarillo hops provide a bitter bite. The mouthfeel is rich and full-bodied with lively carbonation, and it drinks big for a DIPA at 10.2% ABV. Overall, Double Dribbue is a bit one dimensional and could use more fruitiness. That said, it's pleasant drinking and I wouldn't hesitate to order it again.
